Employers Can Require COVID-19 Vaccinations

On May 28, the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) issued new guidance stating that employers can require employees to be vaccinated, unless they have a qualifying exemption, in which case the employer would need to provide reasonable accommodations. The EEOC explained that a reasonable accommodation might include allowing an unvaccinated employee to wear a face mask or social distance in the office, or work from home. The new guidance also states that employers can offer incentives, so long as they are not coercive, to encourage employees to get vaccinated.
